Overview

From raw metrics to board-ready answers

Cloudline collected everything — logs, traces, costs, uptime — but answering “are we healthy, and what will it cost?” still took an engineer half a day.

We built an analytics layer with curated dashboards for each audience: engineers get drill-downs, finance gets cost trends, and leadership gets a single health score with the story behind it.

Challenge

Data rich, insight poor

Three data sources, four definitions of “uptime,” and dashboards only their authors understood. Executives had stopped opening them entirely.

The platform had to unify definitions, load in seconds over large time ranges, and meet enterprise security review — SSO, audit logs, and regional data residency included.

Approach

One metric dictionary, three audiences

01

Define once

A shared glossary so uptime, latency, and cost mean one thing everywhere.

02

Design for the busiest reader

Executive views answer in seconds; engineers drill to the raw event.

03

Secure the pipeline

SSO, audit trails, and residency controls that passed review first time.

Outcome

What changed for Cloudline

Adoption across the company within one quarter of launch.

Executives came back

The Monday health review now runs from the platform, not exported slides.

Answers in seconds

Curated views replaced ad-hoc queries for the most common questions.

Enterprise-ready trust

Security controls cleared procurement review without rework.

“For the first time, engineering, finance, and leadership argue from the same numbers.”
